A Warm Welcome to Our GLAdventist Community

You need not identify as 'gay' or 'lesbian' to feel at home here. If you are a Seventh-day Adventist or have Adventist background and know what it is like to be more strongly attracted to your own gender than the opposite gender, you will find support and encouragement here. We have Good News for Gay Adventists!

Check out What Would Jesus Say to Homosexuals? by Adventist pastor John McLarty, as well as Adventist Ministry magazine articles dealing with homosexuality from several years ago. Former editor of Insight, the Adventist magazine for youth, Christopher Blake, wrote a thoughtful article about "Redeeming Our Sad Gay Situation" years ago, and we have received permission to re-publish it here.Picture of Eddy Hypolite, Matthew Gamble and Dwain Esmon

If you are a young person just discovering that you are attracted to someone of your own sex, we suggest you listen in to this conversation between Insight editor Dwain Esmon, and Pastors Mtthew Gamble and Eddy Hypolite. It's a video of approximately 10 minutes (like YouTube). Click on the picture at the right to view the movie in a new window.

Issues in Adventism: Is the Adventist Church's Opposition to Gay Marriage Consistent With Its Stand on Religious Liberty?  Some argue that the Adventist Church's opposition to gay marriage is inconsistent with the church's defense of religious and civil liberties. The suggestion is that this position is mixing politics and religion -- something the Adventist church has generally avoided during its history. But is this argument consistent with the facts of history? Read more ...

You can find Adventist Position Statements on Homosexuality in our FAQ section.

Many of our Adventist members are single, and others are married. Some have never acted on their attraction to their own gender. Others have spent more than 30 years immersed in the gay culture of one of our big cities and then come back to the Adventist church they learned to love when they were young. What binds us together is our common goal to make Christ first in our lives as we look forward to His glorious Second Advent. If that is your desire as well, you will find support and understanding in our GLAdventist Email Community.

We look forward with joyful anticipation to the soon return of our Lord and Savior, who said, "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14: 3) We are also mindful that it is our privilege not only to look for, but to hasten the coming of the Lord. (2 Peter 3: 12) To this end, we long to see fulfilled the prophetic vision of Ellen White who wrote that "The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His character of love. The children of God are to manifest His glory. In their own life and character they are to reveal what the grace of God has done for them." (Christ's Object Lessons, pp. 415-416) Thus it is our desire to communicate God's character of Love and manifest His glory through this internet initiative.
